.INDICATIONS AND USAGE.
 
1.Eliquis is a factor Xa inhibitor anticoagulant indicated to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation . 

.DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION.

1] The recommended dose is 5 mg orally twice daily.(2.1)
2] In patients with at least 2 of the following characteristics: age 80 years, body weight 60 kg, or serum creatinine 1.5 mg/dL, the recommended dose is 2.5 mg orally twice daily. (2.2)

DOSAGE FORMS AND STRENGTHS.

- Tablets: 2.5 mg and 5 mg (3)

.WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS.

1.ELIQUIS can cause serious, potentially fatal bleeding. Promptly evaluate signs and symptoms of blood loss. (5.2).
2. Prosthetic heart valves: ELIQUIS use not recommended.

 .ADVERSE REACTIONS.

1] Most common adverse reactions (>1%) are related to bleeding.

--------------------------------DRUG INTERACTIONS----------------------------- 

1. Strong dual inhibitors of CYP3A4 and P-gp increase blood levels of apixaban: Reduce ELIQUIS dose to 2.5 mg or avoid concomitant use. (2.2, 7.1, 12.3)
2.Simultaneous use of strong inducers of CYP3A4 and P-gp reduces blood levels of apixaban: Avoid concomitant use. (7.2, 12.3).

. Enoxaparin injection is used to prevent deep venous thrombosis, a condition in which harmful blood clots form in the blood vessels of the legs.

. These blood clots can travel to the lungs and can become lodged in the blood vessels of the lungs, causing a condition called pulmonary embolism. This medicine is used for several days after hip or knee replacement surgery, and in some cases following abdominal or stomach surgery, while you are unable to walk. It is during this time that blood clots are most likely to form.

. It is also used if you are unable to get out of bed because of a serious illness. In addition, enoxaparin is used to prevent blood clots from forming in the arteries of the heart during certain types of chest pain and heart attacks.

Enoxaparin injection is used together with warfarin to treat acute deep vein thrombosis with or without pulmonary embolism. It is also used to treat certain types of acute heart attacks.

. This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription.

Heparin injection is an anticoagulant. It is used to decrease the clotting ability of the blood and help prevent harmful clots from forming in blood vessels. This medicine is sometimes called a blood thinner, although it does not actually thin the blood. Heparin will not dissolve blood clots that have already formed, but it may prevent the clots from becoming larger and causing more serious problems.

. Heparin is used to prevent or treat certain blood vessel, heart, and lung conditions. Heparin is also used to prevent blood clotting during open-heart surgery, bypass surgery, kidney dialysis, and blood transfusions. It is used in low doses to prevent the formation of blood clots in certain patients, especially those who must have certain types of surgery or who must remain in bed for a long time. Heparin may also be used to diagnose and treat a serious blood condition called disseminated intravascular coagulation.

. Rivaroxaban is used to treat and prevent deep venous thrombosis (DVT), a condition in which harmful blood clots form in the blood vessels of the legs. These blood clots can travel to the lungs and can become lodged in the blood vessels of the lungs, causing a condition called pulmonary embolism (PE). This medicine is used for several days after hip or knee replacement surgery while you are unable to walk. It is during this time that blood clots are most likely to form. It also reduces the risk of blood clots occurring again in patients who are still at risk for DVT or PE after receiving treatment for at least 6 months.
. Rivaroxaban is also used to prevent stroke and blood clots in patients with certain heart rhythm problems (eg, nonvalvular atrial fibrillation). It is also used together with aspirin to decrease the risk of serious heart problems, heart attack, and stroke in patients with coronary artery disease (a condition where the blood supply to the heart is reduced or blocked). This medicine is also used together with aspirin to lower the risk of sudden decrease in blood flow to the legs, major amputation, heart attack, or stroke in patients with peripheral artery disease (a condition where the blood flow to the legs is reduced), including patients who have had a recent surgery to improve blood flow to the legs. This medicine is also used to prevent venous thromboembolism (VTE) in certain patients that are hospitalized for an acute illness and after discharge who are at risk of getting blood clots because of decreased ability to move around (mobility) and who do not have a high risk of bleeding. It is also used to treat or reduce the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) after receiving at least 5 days of medicine to treat blood clots and helps prevent blood clots in patients with congenital heart disease after undergoing the Fontan procedure.

You may take this medicine with or without food.Swallow the tablet whole with liquids. Do not break, crush, or chew it .

Tell your doctor if you are using birth control pills or other types of birth control (eg, patch, vaginal ring, or intrauterine device). You should not use this medication if you are also using combination hormonal contraception because it may increase your chance of having a blood clot, heart attack, or stroke. Your risk is even higher if you are overweight, if you smoke cigarettes, or if you are over 35 years of age.

This medicine may cause serious allergic reactions including anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis can be life-threatening and requires immediate medical attention. Call your doctor right away if you have shortness of breath, trouble breathing, chest tightness, flushing of the face, trouble swallowing, or any swelling of your hands, face, or mouth while you are using this medicine.

Call your doctor right away if you have any eye problems, such as a change in your vision. Your doctor will want you to have your eyes checked by an ophthalmologist (eye doctor).

If this medicine does not reduce your bleeding after two menstrual cycles or if it seems to stop working, check with your doctor.

Do not take other medicines unless they have been discussed with your doctor. This includes prescription or nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medicines and herbal or vitamin supplements.
